The Missing Child: Picnic at Hanging Rock (Joan Lindsay, 1967 / Peter Weir, 1975 / Larysa Kondracki, 2018)

There’s a poem whose last line I recite, over and over, on bad news days. It’s by Lucille Clifton, and it was published in 1999, shortly after Columbine.  

another child has killed a child 

and i catch myself relieved that they are

white and i might understand except

that i am tired of understanding… 

The poem is called “The Times.” Like “The New York ____,”…
